In the first half of 2014 Routledge will be publishing two books co-edited by Christopher Hobson. These are based on the UNU-ISP project, ‘Human Security and Natural Disasters’, which has served as an important foundation for the FGC.
The first volume re-examines the human security approach and extends it to a range of natural disasters. It is explicitly interdisciplinary and includes cases from developing, middle income, and industrialised countries.
The second volume focuses specifically on the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident that struck Japan. It includes a number of chapters directly relevant to the FGC, which consider the consequences of the nuclear accident from a human security perspective.
